Community leaders and educators recognize students with a certificate and a medal or trophy for their achievement. Our program encourages and rewards our youth to excel in academics, as welll as, show them support from their community.

Executive Director of the Neighbor-to-Neighbor organization. Executive Director/President of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Gospel Festival held at Illinois Wesleyan university.
Barbara Sims-Malone, has received the NAACP Community Service award in 2008, recipient of News WEEK's 25 Women In Leadership award in 2013, recipient of Women of Distinction award in Social Services and recognized by Illinois Wesleyan University for 20 years of community service in 2015. She has also been recognized by the (A.A.F) African American Forum (an Employee Resource Group State Farm) for contributions to McLean County for the betterment of African-Americans.
Corine Sims was founder/executive director of the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. National Holiday Gospel Festival, held at Illinois Wesleyan University since the 1990’s and organizer/executive of the United Community Gospel Singers of Bloomington-Normal, formed in the 1960’s
Rev. Sims was the proud recipient of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Human Relations Award, and the prestigious NAACP Roy Wilkins Award. He also received honors for his community service from Neighbor-to-Neighbor, Mid-Central Community Action, Illinois Wesleyan University and the City of Bloomington.
